Websphere and JVisualVM

How to inspect a Websphere server via JVisualVM?

Go to "Application servers > SERVER-NAME > Java and Process management > Process Defintion > Java Virtual Machine > Generic JVM arguments" and add the following JMV settings:

-Djavax.management.builder.initial= \
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote \
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false \
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false \
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.local.only=false \
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=1099 \
-Djava.rmi.server.hostname=10.226.2.64

Providing an external ip or hostname was important for it to work.

Select "Add JMX Connection" in JVisualVM and enter: 10.226.2.64:1099.
